Hello everyone! I hope you enjoyed the holidays. How nice to not have to worry about too much snow.
First I want to thank you for putting on a wonderful holiday party in December. It went terrifically and I know everyone had a great time.
Special thanks to:
- Celeste Noah for making all of the arrangements and making sure we were fed and had activities to keep us talking and learning about each other.
- J. Lombardi for hers and her friend’s generous and first gifts toward our scholarship fund, and for bringing the candy bars for us to sell.
- Willette Burrell for making sure our sign-up sheets and name tags were available at the off-site event, and for getting her committee up and running already!
- Diane Scartz for making a special trip to drop off her food and gift, even though her family called her that evening.
- Donna Prease for making sure everyone signed in,
- And everyone who attended, brought gifts, and made the entire evening fun, festive and cheerful.
I am so excited about 2007! Celeste Noah has set up a line of speakers and events to keep us busy for almost a year! Be sure to mark your calendars for the dates listed on the right of the web site. Make sure you bring a friend!
Candy Sales:
Pick up a box or two of candy bars to sell ~ there are still more to go. The sales proceeds will be going to our general fund helping to pay for our operating expenses. Since we will need money to fund our group, this is a productive way to raise funds. Proceeds will go towards:
- Catered meals that the door fee does not cover
- Supplies (paper, ink, etc…)
- National Offices expenses
- Yearly chapter fees
Local and National Dues:
National membership dues are going up this year to $75 (non-student). National provides many benefits to our chapter members such as awards, scholarships, & a monthly magazine.
For anyone who has not paid her local dues, please do so. The 2007 dues will already be coming up soon! Check the Membership and Meeting Dues section of our web site regarding DUES
Dates to remember:
National has provided details of dates that we need to remember. Here is the link for more information: http://www.abwa.org/lse/030600.asp.
Also, check out the section on the right hand side of our web site for local meeting listings. Mark your calendars now!
Committees:
I have reviewed the committee sign up sheet and see that we need more people for Fund-Raising, Newsletter, and Program, while we need less on the Membership committee. The slots for the Publicity and Nominating committees are empty and therefore in need of filling.
Lucille and I have literature on the makings of a committee and will be holding a meeting at Lucille’s house. For those of you who signed up, she or I will be in contact with you to schedule this extra meeting. I hope to get these committees up and running pronto!
You may still sign up if you are interested.
Success Game:
I have signed up for a success game at http://www.successfromtheinsideout.com/ that is taking place Friday, February 9th. The cost is $99, but Nina, the creator and facilitator, has offered a 25% discount to those who I refer in our group. Please contact me if you are interested in taking advantage of this exciting offer! Or click here to sign up and take advantage of the discount offered only to our group! See the article “The Success Game” in the Articles section of this web site for more details.
Professional Development:
In addition to the quality education that Baldwin-Wallace has to offer such as its Bachelor Degree Completion at B-W East which I encourage you to consider, the Mayfield Adult Education has released its Recreation Winter catalogue which lists computer training on Windows, Excel, PowerPoint, Word…etc. It is also offering business and finance seminars about Website marketing and “Getting Hired in Today’s Tough Economy”. Classes range from $23 (Non-Resident) to $109 for up to 4 weeks. (Non-Resident) If you are interested in these seminars visit their catalogue at http://www.mayfieldschools.org/shared/images/layout/NewsEvents/winter0607.pdf. or call them at 440-995-7600. These are worthwhile and inexpensive classes.
