ABWA Women of Wisdom had a wonderful 1^st anniversary celebrating at the Holiday Inn in Independence. Our speaker - Dr. Pratt, was, as usual, an amazing motivator, encouraging our group to press on. Here are excerpts of the meeting minutes thanks to Julie Curtis, Treasurer…

*Described 3 kinds of women who find themselves in places like these:

1. Weak women - easily drawn to many things, recite things that other people do. Major in the minors. Don’t have courage to seize the power within. 
2. Wandering women - not sure where to go. Produces fatigue.
3. Wise women - W - working, know the value of work, not afraid of work, I - involved, be involved at every level, S- Selective - how they spend their time and/or money. Select focus. Who they hang around with. E - Endurance - stay in the race.

*Exclaimed: The world is waiting for you.  Leave the waiting room and go to the workroom.  Everyone invite another woman to come to this group.

All in all it was a very successful, delightful meeting that encouraged our group to stay focused and continue to help other women and ourselves to reach a higher ground!

On October 8^th, 2007, Monday morning I started my day off at the Monday Morning Connection, a new group coaching bi-weekly meeting at the Baldwin-Wallace facilities,  launched by Life Coach Celestine Noah. There was coffee - great for waking up- smiles and group coaching. Celeste started the meeting by introducing herself and how she got involved in coaching, and then told us what coaching is and the types of coaching she does. She gave us a workbook to review that had question to draw out our personalities and gave us something to think about, such as, are you a good listener?

Others who attended were also very motivated and had many roles that they handle other than their full time job. Someone was retired but is studying holistic types of therapies, another is in a local play, and others were working on their business concepts. A great group to uplift and fill the room with positive energy!

Celeste Noah is a certified business coach, life coach, and motivational speaker. She holds a Bachelor Degree in Business Administration from Ursuline College and is currently completing her Master’s degree in Business Administration from Baldwin Wallace College. 

Celeste specializes in coaching from a Spiritual perspective.  Providing a safe, warm, and acceptable environment, Celeste is able to help her clients grow spiritually, emotionally, and professionally. 

Celeste also facilitates and coordinates seminars, workshops, and professional development conferences.

I enjoyed laughter, good eats, new fashion, and FUN at the Sheauga Chapter of ABWA! As people entered the party center, we were greeted at the door by the president Nancy Peterson who was taking money for tickets. There were people walking around selling 50/50 tickets, there were lots of prizes for the Chinese Auction, door prizes and center pieces.

I sat with Bonnie Fruhauf, the historian, and Donna Gedeon, former Vice President of the chapter. Other family and friends were also at our table. We enjoyed a delicious meal of fruit, salad, stuffed chicken and a yummy ice cream parfait for desert!

After lunch and during the raffles, the models came out adorned in winter wear, office wear, and evening wear. The fashions were provided by Peebles in Chardon who also garnished many of the door prizes of make-up bags stuffed with goodies, and Catherine’s, in Mentor. We all thought the event was over when the models came out in sleep wear - beautiful silky robes ready for a relaxing night cap and slumber.

I had such a fun time and I am so glad I went. Everything was so organized and well planned, and there were fun and prizes for all. I will defiantly make this an annual event, and encourage my members to attend next year!

At our last meeting, a healthy looking young lady attended. She was talking to her friend about a fund raising event that she was holding to raise money and awareness for Scleroderma. It turns out, she herself has the condition, “Scleroderma”. She explained it to the group that it is a condition where skin and other soft tissue cells grow and do not have a mechanism to turn off.
