June’s Meeting
Dr. Cheryl Felder Scott
Dr. Scott is an independent consultant and facilitator for corporate, government and non profit clients, and has served as an adjunct professor in various Master’s and undergraduate level courses. She began her career in fashion retailing after attending the Tobe-Coburn School for Fashion Careers in New York City. Later on, she went on to earn a B.B.A. degree in management from Kent State University in 1978.
In 1997, she was awarded a PH.D in Organizational Behavior from Case Western Reserve University’s Weatherhead School of Management. While attending CWRU, she became a recognized leader among administrative and support staff. During her career tenure at CWRU, she was inaugurated as the first elected chairperson for CWRU Staff Advisory council.
Immediate after receiving her degree, Dr. Scott led a major change initiative within Cleveland State University’s Maxine Goodman Levin College of Urban Affairs. Dr. Scott has also been instrumental in establishing a county wide student council consortium for the League of Women Voters of Cleveland Education Fund. In recent years, she has help to form the Cuyahoga County Alliance of Small Business Childcare Owners and Directors, and subsequently has become a founding member of its board of directors.
Dr. Scott’s research career draws upon her experience working with women in administrative and support capacities. She is drafting a book based on her dissertation; “An Appreciative Exploration of the Career and Parenting Experiences of Dual-Career Mothers and Fathers.” She also facilitates two workshops: “Bloom from Where You Are Planted,” an interactive experience to help you grow spiritual and emotionally, and “Where Love is Planted, Dreams can Bloom” an intergenerational experience for parents and grandparents.
